History

Founded in July 2006 Ian's Ice Cream is a family owned business. It was started by Robert and Janine Smith who have been in the ice cream business for more than 20 years.

Having worked for a successful ice cream company and having been in the industry for many years Robert felt that it was time to go it alone. So along with the help of his family and friends he was able to see his vision come true in the form of Ian's Ice Cream.

With his saying “it is easier to bring the ice cream to the people than the people to the ice cream.”  Ian's Ice Cream has started off with a number of mobile ice cream vans of different shapes and sizes which make it easy to sell ice cream directly to the people no matter where they are located.

It is only early days but already the potential is there for more growth and expansion along with some exciting new flavours and products.

Our Name

Remembering back to the past when the ice cream man used to come around and sell his ice cream's. You could never remember the name of his business but you could always remember his name, as he was always so friendly and nice.

So it was on this thinking that instead of trying to come up with some fun or catchy name that it was best just to go with something simple.

The problem was that "Mr Smith's Ice Cream" just wouldn't work it seemed too formal and we were after something more informal( and smith's would not work for obvious reasons).

So it was decided that a first name would be used. The obvious choice was just to make it "Rob's ice cream." But it just didn't seem to fit.

Being a family business it was decided that the name should still come from within the family.

So with that it was decided to dedicate the business name to one of the family who was loved by all and whose memory would be able to live on, and thus Ian's Ice Cream became a reality.

Our Values

For Ian's Ice Cream having a healthy and happy family has always been important. Just like with any family the experiences and lessons that you learn growing up stay with you always and they shape how you live.

So it is with that in mind that we bring some of our lessons to our business:

As with most family over time we hope to grow and continue to spread out as far and wide as we can.
